Ldos and Lserial are brought to you under the concept shareware. This
means that you must register Ldos and Lserial if you choose to use
them regulary, or use them in a program (pd/sw/commercial etc.). I
have spent a lot of time on both Ldos and Lserial, trying to make
life easy (and fast!) for the user. The shareware fee is rather small,
about 1/3 the cost of a decent game (100 SEK approx. £10 or US$ 17).
At this point I have added all the commands I need for my own purposes,
and a lot more I thought people like you would like. If these pro-
ducts are supported by its users I will continue to develope them,
debug them and add new features requested by users. If the support
(ie. # of registered users) is to small, Ldos and Lserial will probably
not be released with higher versionnumbers than the current, 2.
The difference between the demoversions and the registered ones are:
both Ldos and Lserial are much smaller (Ldos is >8 Kb smaller)
no alert is displayed when an error is generated
no screen-flicker appears when an error is generated
no CPU-time is wasted when an error is generated
As you can see the demoversions are fully functional, and identical
to the registered versions, except the error-routine. As soon as an
error is generated from the demoversions the screen will flicker (and
tie up the CPU for a while) and after that an alert pops up, telling
the user that the author didn't register his/her copy of Ldos/Lserial.
I hope that people who use Ldos/Lserial 'seriously' will find this em-
barrasing enough, and push them to support shareware.. Honest people
won't mind these 'features' since they register if they like the pro-
duct.
You may not use Ldos/Lserial in any program released to the public un-
less you are a registered user. When you have registered you are free
to use them in any way you want, even in a commercial program. However
you may NOT disassemble or modify any program shipped on the disk/in
the archive. Also you can't give a copy to a friend or upload a copy
to a BBS or similiar. Every registered copy is unique, showing who the
legal (registered) owner is (not visable to others than me, don't worry).
If the registerinfo is modified or removed (it is both compressed and
encrypted) I will regard the author of the program as a pirate.
You are allowed to spread any of the demoversions in any way you like,
as long as ALL the original files (binaries, docs, examples) are inc-
luded. Otherwise the same restrictions as above apply (modifying, dis-
assemble etc.) If a magazine with a disk shipped with it would like to
put Ldos/Lserial on their disk, they should contact me first.
For 100 SEK you will receive BOTH Ldos and Lserial. You will also receive
the next update of either Ldos, Lserial or both. You also have the chance
of receiving a new extension which has been devloped, but I can't promise
that. It all depends on how many of you that register. If I some day find
the time to rewrite the manual(s) or maybye write it down in AmigaGuide-
format (when? it is released) you'll receive a copy of this (if the manual
is rewritten it will only be available to registered users)
If you haven't read the featurelist, here's what you get for your 100 SEK:
(Ldos)
new flexible load commands
fast stringcommands and parsing-/filter commands. A must for everyone who
uses strings often or require fast loading of textfiles from disk.
date and time commands (also conversion)
a decent filerequester for your users, including fontrequester
fast fontloading, doesn't have to scan the disk like Get Disk Fonts
easy to use directorycommands which support recursive reading. Only memory
limits the number of "active" directorys.
a bunch of commands to determine filenotes, dates, size, type (dir/file) etc.
"device-dir" with detailed information (determine if device, assign or vol,
list buffers, masks, low/hi-tracks etc. etc.)
support for setting and reading environmentvariables
very powerful patternmatching
command for decrunching powerpacked datafiles
cryptation
devicecommands which can handle any standarddevice, like trackdisk.device
(disk track-loading)
possibility to either run or execute normal AmigaDOS programs
complete support for Arexx. Create your own AMOS-ARexx port, start scripts,
address other hosts directly from AMOS, etc. etc.
many programexamples showing how to make use of Ldos. Some Procedures like
the font-procedure will probably make your life at lot easier.
and much more
(Lserial)
at last FULLY WORKING routines!
support for both send and receive at the same time
full control over the device's options (like internal buffer etc.)
support for almost all xpr-callbacks, which means that you now can add
tons of filetransferprotocols (like xmodem, zmodem, ymodem etc.) in
just minutes! (also support batch-transfers)
How to register then?
Currently there are only two ways in which I can accept payments. Only
one is open to peoples who live outside Sweden (maybye not Scandinavia):
CASH, in swedish currency (SEK, crowns). To buy a 100 SEK bill (which
won't cost you that much) simply visit your bank. Do NOT send inter-
national cheques if you don't want to add (horrible) 70 SEK (£7, US$
12) to the fee, and most likely have to pay a lot yourself for the
cheque. Bank fees simply are outrageous!!
Those who live in Sweden (or Scandinavia) probably prefer to use the
postgiro. Simply transfer 100 SEK to account # 710803-4716. Of course
swedes may also send a 100 SEK bill in an envelope. If you choose to
use the postgiro, please clearly type and state your address. I would
be grateful if you would send in the form below, either by mail or as
an netmail via Fidonet.
If you send cash in an envelope, please make sure that the bill isn't
visible through the envelope. If it is there might be a big chance that
the letter never reaches me! Please wrap some paper (preferable the
registerform :-) around it.
After I have received your payment (mail from US and England can take
quite some time sometimes) your copy will be shipped within two weeks.
Most likely faster, but I might be on holiday or something so please
expect it to take two weeks before I deliver. The disk will be sent
by Airmail and should thus reach Europe within a week, US might take
a bit longer.
I would be pleased if you filled in the form below (print it out or just
scratch down the information on a piece of paper). The form might affect
future versions of Ldos/Lserial (ie. if lots of you use KS2.x it would be
suitable to add more 2.x commands. etc.). It will also help me if you send
in bug-reports.

At the moment (or should I say as always?) international mail are a bit
unstable. All letters which reach me will be replied to, so you can be
sure of that i got your letter.
Thanks for supporting shareware and helping to keep development of Ldos and
Lserial up!
